Chad Cason is the senior biologist and owner of Cason & Associates, LLC. Chad has over 20 years experience in aquatic resource management. He worked for 12 years as a fisheries biologist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. For seven years he headed the Lake Management Division for a private lake and pond management consulting firm. From 2005 to 2008, Chad co-owned and managed Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource, LLC. In 2009, Chad launched Cason & Associates, LLC.
The primary focus of Chad’s work as a private consultant has been working with lake management organizations to develop and implement exotic species control programs. To date, he has helped over 40 lake organizations in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan develop effective Eurasian watermilfoil control programs. Chad has also authored six technical papers and 35 lake management plans. He has written over one million dollars in grants for lake organizations.
Chad Cason is considered an authority on Eurasian watermilfoil control. He has presented papers on milfoil management at the Wisconsin Association of Lakes Convention, the Michigan Lakes and Streams Conference and the Midwest Aquatic Plant Management Society Conference. Chad recently published a technical paper in the Journal of Invasive Plant Science and Management regarding the selective use of granular 2,4-D herbicide to manage Eurasian watermilfoil.
Continuing education is a priority at Cason & Associates. Chad has recently completed courses in Aquatic Plant Identification and Survey Methods, Wetland Delineation and Stream Restoration.
